Tasty Toasty Avocado... Try it, you'll like it!

Here's an easy snack I whipped up the other day and won't be abandoning any time soon. Really good! Well, really good if you like avocados!

Tear two (Thomas') English muffins in half and toast them.
Cut an avocado into quarters, peel.
Place an avocado section on each English muffin and mash with a fork.
Dust to taste with garlic powder and black truffle salt.
Toast avocado with a kitchen torch until the peaks are dark and toasty.

Enjoy!

Is that the Woodinville Salt Co. Black Truffle salt? We love it.

We often use Baconaise on avocados, http://www.baconnaise.com/

Recently discovered Fuerte avocados, they seemed slightly milder flavor than Haas. Apparently only available a short time in spring, at least according to the veggie guy.

I use Fusion brand black truffle salt. It's from Washington state, contents, according to their label: Sea Salt & Truffle. That's it. As I mention above, last time I had to restock, I also got a container of their white truffle salt. Maybe I'm just not a white truffle kind of person? My first truffles ever were Perigordine, from France. I think first loves are always the best... WHEN they last...!!! '-)

Try a generous sprinkle of balsamic vinegar and blue cheese.

Yummy!! Love the idea of the truffle salt.

My breakfast every day of my pregnancy was whole grain toast topped with aged, extra sharp cheddar and squished slices of avocado, the whole thing liberally sprinkled with coarsely grated sea salt. To this day avocados are my son’s favorite food!

(isn’t all salt sea salt? I always feel weird saying sea salt)

Did I mention it's BLACK truffle salt? When I had to reorder last time, I sprang for some white truffle salt too. Shoulda saved my money. I know full well that white truffles are not as "hardy" as black truffles. Ever seen white truffles in a jar? I thought not. Black truffle salt on avocados is the ONLY way to fly! And don't forget the garlic powder.

Sh*t. I just sorta realized that there is a food stuff I have never even contemplated that Caroline, Pass, and Veggo all enjoy. I'm gettin' on this soon!

I used to avocado and thinly sliced ham in a cream sauce, warm, and serve it over pasta.

Dunno how I missed all these replies.... Specially this one! LOL! Veggo, you make me feel so young! C'mon over for lunch tomorrow... Torched avocado for starters, then Hungarian duck with cabbage... maybe some fresh strawberries with Pernod for "finishers"? '-)

Can I come, too? Be warned, you'll need to get some beer, though. A lot of beer, probably, if me and Veg are coming.

C'mon, but it will be leftovers. Did the duck with cabbage for lunch today. I'm as content as an 1800s Easter European peasant! And that's a good dish too. Roast peasant under glass! So, you wanna bring the beer or the peasant? '-)

I love avocados on toast. I usually top the mashed avocado with a squirt of lemon juice, salt, and penzey's Red & Black pepper.

Sounds pretty cool to me. I will certainly try it. Is it OK if I put some butter on the muffin before the avocado?

I love avocado toast too. Toast good double fiber whole wheat breat, schmear with a very thin layer of Best Foods and top with avocado slices. season with Lawry's seasoned salt and mash slightly.

                    mmmmmmmmm

So you cook the avocado, or you put a poached egg in the cavity after it's poached?

Sounds yummy! I buy the bag of avocados from Costco and am always looking for a new way to use up the last 1 or 2 before they go bad.

Same here! The avocados are generally huge and I can only eat half of one per day.

I also like it on toast but sprinkled with black salt. It's my vegan version of eggs on toast.
