Valentines Restaurant ideas needed

Valentines is coming up and looking for ideas. I'm looking for a nice romantic restaurant that won't break the bank around the downtown core. only restaurant I've looked at so far has been Blu and also looking at a European type menu

Edulis and the Gabardine are good suggestions.
Depends how downtown you want to go, but Marben could be fun, or Harbord Room.

Restaurants in the "downtown core" aren't typically romantic and are mostly on the expensive side. Do you mean "downtown-ish", perhaps?

If so, I'd look at Edulis and Ici Bistro, leaning more towards Edulis, as it's less expensive and just as good (if not better).

downtown-ish is perfectly fine. I'll be driving so really anywhere around Toronto is fine with me

In that case, I'd go to Edulis. I'd take a cab and share a bottle of wine or two, though (or bring your own, $25 corkage fee, as I recall). Order the 5 or 7 course tasting menu - you won't regret it.

You may also inquire if they have a special valentines menu, or you might be interested in any number of their pre-ordered meals (rib-eye, chicken in hay, etc.).
