Last dinner in NYC before returning to Japan

  • 3

Hi Guys I need some recommendation for dinner tonight. I know it's last minute but just found out that a special female friend of mine is moving back to Japan for good and she hasn't had the chance to experience some of the finer dining options in the city since she was just here for a couple of weeks. I want to treat her to something that is unforgetable as a last dinner in NYC.

I took her to Bouley for lunch and Jean-George for dinner in the past and it seems she really enjoyed it. We both prefer elegent atmosphere in a quieter more spacious setting and we are not big drinkers. I do have a limit on price and prefer to keep my budge under 150 pp just for food. I have a table booked at Jung Sik tonight but also seeing Daniel with reservation before 6. At this point its either tasting course at Jungsik or the Prix-Fix at Daniel. Based on the review I think Jungsik wins food-wise but I havn't been to both and wanted to get you guys' input on both food and also atmosphere/service/ambiance/decor. Any other recommendation is welcome as well, thanks for your help.

  1. That's an easy one for me: Jungsik without any hesitation! Have a wonderful time!

    1. Jungsik will have more unique or special food. Daniel I think will feel "more fancy". Jungsik will be quieter. If you go to Jungik and you don't do the tasting menu, stick to the small dishes and get more things to taste,, You can also add small dishes to the tasting menu. The amuses are the big surprise, they are so good.

I agree with what you said about Daniel, but since I'm trying to just have a nice memorable dinner, I think I will just stick with Jung Sik since for the same price I'm getting the full tasting at Jung Sik vs prix-fix at Daniel.
