Tart Cherry Juice in Edmonton?

chefathome Jan 16, 2013 02:05 PM

Where can I find tart (not dark) cherry juice in Edmonton? We will be there this weekend food shopping.

For future reference this actually seems to be standard at Safeway. I saw two varieties (pure tart cherry juice- not blends, not black cherry) at my local Safeway in the refrigerated juice section near the produce.

we buy it to keep my husband gout at bay. I don't have any in our house at the moment but will see if I can find the brand online.

Great to hear that it helps your husband! I want it for insomnia and chronic pain. Hope to find some in Edmonton this weekend! :)

you can buy sour cherry juice at superstore. It comes in a tetra pack sometimes in the juice aisle sometimes in the import aisle.

Really? I've only seen black cherry juice in ours. Does it contain only tart cherry juice? I would be shocked to see the real thing in tetra packs! Will check SS in Edmonton. (Did not end up going this weekend but will be there in two.)

(They seem to ship for only $2 if you're desperate.)

Knudsen's makes an "Organic Just Tart Cherry". I'd check with local health food stores as even if they don't carry it they could probably bring some in with their next Knudsen order. It also might be worth calling Superstore.

Do you mean sour cherry juice? If so, you could try local Mediterranean grocery stores for sour cherry juice or sour cherry nectar. I've managed to find sour cherry nectar here in Calgary at various Mediterranean stores so I imagine you would be able to in Edmonton.

I assume you mean Mediterranean stores in general? I will check the Italian Centre as I will be there anyway. I believe sour and tart cherry juice would be similar. It is very expensive (about $12-$15 per litre) and I am seeking it for its anti-inflammatory properties (I've run out).

Yes, I've bought sour cherry juice from a Greek grocer as well as a Middle Eastern grocer (Basha Foods) here in Calgary. However, though from the sounds of it.. I think it may not be what you're looking for. This stuff I buy Tamek Sour Cherry Nectar (or similar) costs only around $4-$5 for a litre.
