Paris: Saturday Night in the 6th
We'll be in Burgundy for 5 nights and will be taking the train to Paris on a Saturday. We'll be staying near Laduree in the 6th. It will be my husband's birthday and if Josephine's was open, we'd absolutely go there for dinner.
Any suggestions for dinner that night? I'd like it to be a memorable birthday dinner (but not Le Cinq "fancy"). It should be walkable from the hotel. We'll only be in Paris for 3 nights. (We'll make it to Josephine's on Monday.) Thank you!
You are actually rather centrally located. If you book ahead early enough, you might get into Spring, which is a very walkable, say, 12 blocks from your hotel. We have often walked to and from Spring from your general area.
Or, essentially the same distance, La Regalade St. Honore, a favorite of many if not mine.
If you will walk one block over to rue de Rennes and catch the #39 bus, you can get off at Bourse, walk another block and dine at Saturne. (Return by walking back west on rue 4 Septembre to rue Richelieu where you can catch the #39 heading south, returning you to rue Jacob.)
Although it doesn't seem to be on the usual Chowhound circuit/ rut, I'm very fond of Chardenoux des Prés on the rue Dragon. Less than a 10-minute walk from your part of St G des Prés.
La Société on the place St Germain is a very stylish restaurant that might qualify as a place for a celebratory dinner. But it's in an international rather than French mode. It's also part of the Costes empire which is enough for some people who have never been there to slam it. The food is actually quite good and the see-and-be-seen buzz is very enjoyable (especially after 9pm).
For restaurant reeking of Frenchness, maybe le Bistrot de l'Alycastre on the rue Clément. It's a bit overpriced but the cuisine is updated classic and reliable.
Anywhere on a Sat night must be booked as soon as possible.
