Middle of the week birthday trip to NYC need some suggestions

  • 4

I'm turning 47 and my good friend is turning 80 something. We are coming to NYC for our birthday, in March, with our boyfriends. We are thinking about staying at the Chatwal hotel. We are seeing the matinee "Nice Work". Prior to the show, I'm thinking about getting a lightish lunch at Hakkasan. I know it's a bit over the top, but it's pretty and near the theater…Sort of a show before the show. My friend and I love La Grenouille…we can not decide if we want to go for dinner Tuesday or Wednesday night, or for lunch on Thursday.

La Grenouille is our "special occasion" place. I don't want to eat that fancy every meal…My boyfriend does not want to be in a tie the whole time…
We will get to the hotel around 7:00 on Tuesday. Need a neat place for dinner…for Tuesday or Wednesday and a good place for a boozy, long lunch on Thursday…(Went to Balthazar for last boozy lunch…was not so great, but loved the atmosphere) I'm thinking it makes sense to stay near mid-town…The group will not really be walking, one of us has a bad hip.

Is the Lamb's Club any good?

Open to suggestions…price not really a problem, but not looking for just another fancy restaurant…Needs to be semi quiet…three of us have hearing aids…

We're a funny group…sort of hip with bad hips and poor hearing

Look forward to your suggestions

      1. The drinks at the Lambs Club are decent. I've tried a snack or two and it was fine. Not noteworthy. Don't waste a meal there:

The Bar Room at the Modern might work for your boozy lunch. It probably won't be too loud on a weekday.

        1. Thanks so much for the tips….It sounded like the Lamb's club was one to avoid…We may not even stay at the Chatwal…It might be too much over the top too. It's fun planning..

          thanks again
