Pannetone SFV
Where can I get Pannetone in the SFV or Ventura County (don't laugh) now that the the holdays are over? Someone got me two from World Market that were great. I know TJ's usually has it for the holidays but it is long gone. Do any bakeries make it? Where can I get the boxed cakes this time of year?

Hello, SimiHound.
You can find Panettone at most Italian delis.
Cavaretta's Italian Deli in Canoga Park has a few good choices:

re: SIMIHOUND
SimiHound, Cavaretta's has terrific subs; their peppered turkey is particularly tasty. The last time we were there, although admittedly it was during the holidays, they offered several different brands of Panettone.
By the way, I did not like the Trader Joe's version; it was quite dry and rather tasteless compared to any of the ones that Cavaretta's or Italia Deli might carry.

re: liu
Thanks Liu. I should have thought about both places but I simply didn't think clearly. I order from Cavaretta's often but but never go inside so I had no idea what they carry. Italia Deli was a place I depended on for years when I worked in Agoura. I have not been back there in years. I will also check with the Italia Deli in Granada Hills. If anyone doesn't know about these places, they have darned good food and subs at fair prices.

If you can't find anything closer to home, you might want to call Roma Market & Deli in Pasadena. Last time I was in there, around the beginning of the year, they still had lots of boxed ones (more than one brand, too).
There's an Italian bakery in Eagle Rock, too. But hopefully you can come up with something closer to your neck of the woods.
