Nyu laguardia place location dinner with husband

Debbie2408 Jan 14, 2013 11:33 AM

I am meeting My husband for dinner wed nite after a conf at NYU laguardia pl. would like a reasonable romantic Italian or French restaurant that we will not have to wait hours. I would love il mulino, sigh, but too pricy for a weeknight quick little dinner. Any ideas greatly appreciated!

Ive never been to Il Mulino, but had a meal at Emilio's Balato over the summer and feel like it might strike the note youre looking for.

You can try to walk in at Minetta Tavern.

Check out Vin et Fleurs on Thompson near Spring. It's only about a 5 minute walk from Laguardia. Another option is Jean Claude on Sullivan St., between Houston and Prince.

          2nd Jean Claude.

Le Philosophe at 55 Bond Street is new and I think the chef came from Jean Georges. I haven't tried it yet though.

I do like Jean Claude but (based on a single visit) I think Le Philosophe is better, perhaps as good if not better than Benoit for traditional bistro fare. I loved the pig's trotter with lentils and the Tournedos Rossini with seared foie gras. The chocolate mousse was simple but delicious, embellished only with a thin layer of passionfruit curd and some hazelnut crisps. I do plan to return and sample more of their offerings.

          Il Cantinori or Da Silvano.

DH and I like this place, Trattoria Spaghetto on the corner of Bleecker and Carmine, a short walk from laguardia place. Good weeknight dinner, pastas under $15, not too bright and reasonably quiet.

Otto is just across the park. Make a res and you won't have to wait.

Well I have to say we did something totally different, walked around the corner and ate at Cuba restaurant. We enjoyed it, and are going to make meeting in nyc a monthly thing. I will definitely keep your recs for next month.
