Need to decide between Mash, STK and Hawksmoore

I've only been to Hawksmoor, but enjoyed it thoroughly.

I celebrated my birthday the year before last at Cut by Wolfgang Puck, and it was faultless -- by far the best steak I'd ever had in London (along with beautiful room and excellent service).

STK looks a bit on the cheesy side (i.e., their motto is 'not your daddy's steak house), and I suspect Mash would be dead (as it always seems to be when I go by) so not very exciting.

Hawksmoor without a shadow of a doubt. But go to Spitalfields or Seven Dials not Air Street.

Whats the problem with Air Street? I have reservations to go next week!

Nothing that wrong with Air Street, it's just a bit of a soulless behemoth of a restaurant with none of the charm of the first two branches and the feel of a sexed-up Aberdeen Angus steakhouse. The service was appreciable inferior to other Hawksmoors and the Porterhouse steak was significantly overcooked.

Also felt that Air Street, and to an extent the Guildhall, was the moment when Hawksmoor jacked up the prices to the point where it fails to be real value anymore. Overall they're still the best in town though I think.

Is it the former Cocoon space?

That's the one, not that I ever went to Cocoon. They've done it out ok, I just feel as though it's lost something in the huge expansion from Spitalfields.

The seafood additions to the menu are quite good.

Cocoon was GREAT when I first moved to London, and was very excited by it all. Asian fusion? How exciting!
