Liv2Eat, Baltimore

Liv2Eat is a new place that opened up in the former Bicycle, and then Centro, location on Light Street in Federal Hill.

Hubs & I just had dinner here tonight, coming in with a Living Social coupon, and we both walked away saying that it was ok - good but it didn't make us say we needed to come back. The atmosphere was cozy, service was good, and courses were timely in their arrival. The dining room was packed and there were several people waiting as we departed.

We had a bottle of the Boordy Shiraz ($30) and the bread and butter that was served was a good start.

We started with the Cauliflower Soup ($8), which I normally am obsessed with. The pieces of cauliflower in the soup were a surprise, and were crunchier than I would have preferred. The creaminess of the soup was a bit bland, but the torn croutons were delicious. After we left, we were still talking about how odd the not-quite-cooked cauliflower pieces were...

We also had the Stuffies ($10) (I tried them, and thought they were ok, while the hubs really enjoyed) and the Risotto Fritters ($9) - again I thought just ok.

I had the burger ($12), which was good, but had a lot going on with the bacon, blue cheese, onions, some kind of tomato thing, and some kind of greens on the top. It was cooked perfectly, and looked appetizing with grill marks on the brioche roll. The fries that accompanied it were a bit of a disappointment, since they are selling them as a small plate for $7. If I paid $7 for fries - I would hope that they'd be REALLY good. I had to ask for the aioli that was stated on the menu, but it tasted like straight mayo.

Hubs had the Roseda Farm Beef ($26), which was like steak & a short rib, which was served with the Pureed Potatoes. He really enjoyed the dish & I thought it was pretty good.

We finished with the Baked Apple ($6) for dessert, which was simple but tasty.

I really wanted to love this place, as it's close to home. All in all - an average-ly good meal, but I'm not in a rush to return.
