Dinner near 42nd and 10th?

Some friends and I are going out tonight, and I don't really know the area - do you have any suggestions? Cheap CHOW is always appreciated, vegetarian friendly and/or spicy is also good - any type of food, my own tastes favor Asian cuisines, but we're flexible and open to something new.

I would have suggested for you and your friends to take the 42nd St. crosstown bus or walk to 6th Av. and then walk the rest of the way to Szechuan Gourmet. Where did you end up going?
