Live crawfish

Has anyone seen live crawfish available for sale? Would love to buy 20-25 for a get together Im having next week but I have not seen any live ones available.

  1. Sorry, but in 11 years, I've not once seen live crawfish here, and most of the frozen crawfish are the little inferior ones from Asia.

When they are in season, you can find live ones at a few of the Vietnamese markets in Dorchester. I think that they are in season sometime in or around May.

    2. You can get them shipped from Louisiana. I was told that one of the seafood distributors by the waterfront can get them for you too. I think they're barely in season though.

      1. Cajun grocer, an online site, carries them. However, their website indicates they are not in season

        1. Maybe call the crawfish restaurant on Adams St in Dot?

I've heard that place (Brother's) uses frozen. They didn't taste all that fresh when I had 'em. :(

          2. 20-25 live select crawfish is around two pounds. That's enough to feed one person, or perhaps two light eaters.

As others have said though, they are out of season so you won't find any anywhere anyway.
