dunno bout the city but the Beach Break Cafe in Oceanside on the PCH has the best coffee cake i've ever had. The crumb is like a swedish massage in your mouth, and i think they pour sugar icing on hot and still melted. the rest of the breakfast is outstanding too, though eat conservatively so you can cram the cake down....

Why do the bakers put so much sugar glazings on Coffe cakes and pastries. It makes all of them just TOO sweet in unnecessary ways. Plus with all the unneeded calories to the fats, it is no wonder, that Americans are expanding beyond their clothes!
Sugar, like fat and chocolate, are learned tastes, that are addicting. -
