Why do some of the oval windows that show the number of replies to a thread have 2 interlocking squares next to the number? What does this mean??

I think it means there is a photo in the post.

Liz is correct- that symbol indicates that there are photos somewhere in the thread. Additionally, if the last post has a photo, the symbol will also appear next to the name and timestamp of that post on the far right of the thread's information.
