Family of 5 coming to the city
Hi all. Coming to NY next weekend with a family of five and looking for restaurant recommendations. We plan on doing touristy site seeing but not looking for touristy or chain. restaurants. My youngest is 10 - oldest is 18. All are accustomed to eating in restaurants however the kids are only moderately adventurous with food choices. On the agenda so far is:

•. Matinee at the theater
•. Met
•. Sol area - Know still officially closed
•. Empire State Building

http://newyork.seriouseats.com/2011/0...If your plan is to see the Statue of Liberty from the Staten Island Ferry, make sure you eat elsewhere. Not a lot of noteworthy food in the area.
Also since you have a party of five, make a reservation (esp for pre theatre). Your party is on the big side for Manhattan. OpenTable is a handy tool (though not all a restuarnat's inventory may be online).
You may also experience some sticker shock as prices may be much higher tah you're used to. Don't forget that our sales tax is almost 9% as well.
