To me the biggest story of the year were the Rudy/Spectrum debacle, as it clearly brings to light the landmine in upper-tier auction buying and the prevalence of counterfeits. One could make a good movie about that whole story. I drank with Rudy a few times around town and he was quite interesting, and actually very generous with wine. Maybe they were fakes.
Next to me would be the Advocate sale story. That one's still unfolding, and I tend to see Parker less essential to wine styling than many. But it sure makes for a lot of talk.
The piece on the White House wines revealed is funny at least as far as the digs surrounding the wines that come from the other side of the pond.
