they are both vegetarian restaurants that serve chinese and japanese food (including fake sushi fish!). joe yee is in richmond hill and tenon is in markham.

has anyone tried either, or both? which one is better?

I prefer Joe Yee. (Disclaimer: I don't enjoy sushis from vegetarian restaurants.)
JY has a much more extensive Chinese menu and I like the way they do the veggies and doesn't always rely on over-salting imitation meat products. I really enjoy their crockpot dishes and their rice never tastes stale.
I have only had party tray takeouts from Tenon. The makis were very bland (the rice didn't taste seasoned at all and was crusty). The inaris were okay, but for the most part, the noris used in the rolls were terrible quality.
