Ann Arbor: Blimpy Burger closing?

Is it true that the University has bought the Blimpy Burger building & they are shutting down? (And if this is true, why did I learn so via the New York Times?)
In these times of gourmet burgers, maybe the quality ain't top-notch, but Blimpys has always been tasty and a true dining experience.

It's true, but they're looking for another location. Wouldn't want to eat there every day, but it's good.

Yep, definitely true. However, just talked to the manager, and he is very confident they'll find another spot around campus and re-open on a relatively speedy schedule. He basically said that they outgrew their location years ago, but obviously kept on there, being an institution and all. As for the quality, they grind their meat fresh daily, which is more than I can say for some other burger joints around town.

Phew! Good to know they will be around. I used to go there in college. Then I enjoyed watching my son go from a single patty to a double . . . until, as a teen, he'd freak me out by ordering beyond-the- quint.

Rumors are flying that they have found a spot in the same general area and will be reopening soon. My bet is that vacant storefront on Packard just east of State.

Hopefully maybe somewhere with a bit better parking this time too. Also it would be fantastic if they could find a credit card machine in the new place as well.
