I want to take my boyfriend out to a nice dinner for our one year, I need something that isn't too far.

Northeast Philadelphia, mayfair area or Hatboro / Willow Grove area would be best.

there's a recent philly.com article saying that castor ave is the next big restaurant row. haven't been up there for years, so can't say if the article's accurate or not.

That is going to be a bit tough. On the boulevard you have a Longhorn Steakhouse, (north of Grant). In Bensalem you have a texas roadhouse and Carrabas on Street Road.

In Horsham just north of Willow Grove you have na Brasa, an all you can eat Brazilian steakhouse. If you want one in Philadelphia down on Castor Avenue there is Picanha Grill which will be much cheaper that na Brasa, and is BYO.

If you go further north on 611 up towards Doylestown (about 10-15 minutes further north )KC Prime is a locally owned steakhouse (one other branch in Lawrenceville NJ) that is quite good, though a bit pricey.
