If I receive 0 found on the most obvious search many will do - FRIED CHICKEN, you don't have too swinging an idea.
I don't see a future for us.

Hey Jack, when all else fails, and you've been given your answer here by Chowhounds you have taught me a great deal over the years, but- when all else fails try using a Google prompted search.
Google search: "Fried Chicken recipes, Chowhound"
You'll have more recipes than time in a day.

Try it again: http://www.chow.com/search?query=frie... (and that search was limited to the default 1 year setting)

As others have said, the search defaults to searching the board you're on, but that isn't at all obvious. When I look at the search box, it has a dropdown arrow thingy that says Chowhound, with the option to choose "Entire Site", "Chowhound", "Recipes", "Stories", "Video". And it's pretty fair for a new user to assume that typing a search term in that box with "Chowhound" selected would search all of Chowhound for that term. There's probably a way to make this clearer for new posters, but there was a recent post saying search engine fixing was in the works for 2013 so I hope that will address it.
I do find it interesting when people say Chowhound's search engine is terrible. I can almost always find what I'm looking for, but I think that's probably because I know how to use it.
