Meritage Oyster Bar

I finally made time to get to the oyster bar at Meritage. It was fantastic.

There were 5 or 6 types of oyster from the east coast and another 5 or 6 from the west coast. They were fresh, generally distinct from one another and properly shucked by friendly and knowledgable staff.

The oysters were a bit pricey at $3 to $4 per oyster.

I enjoyed a Franciacorta DOCG sparkling wine from on the list for around $55 / bottle.

We got a bit overenthusiastic on New Year's eve. We ran the board. Next time, I'd skip the lobster, shrimp and whelk. The clams were ok, but not as good as the oysters.

I'll definitely go back for more.

  1. Jim, I definitely appreciate hearing about this part of Meritage on an occasion other than the oyster fest! It's encouraging to know that the oysters there are well-shucked, since that seemed to be a subject of many complaints during the crush of the annual event.

Yeah, they definitely struggled with Oysterfest this year because of the early stampede. That said, the oyster bar is consistently great.
