AMW Donuts - Phoenixville

Just in the opposite direction! Donuts are NOT hot as advertised. Eaten cold, it had a cold grease after-taste. I asked for cream or milk for my coffee and was directed to that awful fake stuff or 1% (read: water) milk for my coffee. When I said, if you are going to have classy donuts you should have cream for the coffee, the retort was 'if you don't like it, I'll give you your money back'. Needless to say, I will not be back. Much better to put in an order at Kimberton Fire Company's Monthly Donut Sale. INCREDIBLE cake donuts (plain, powdered and cinnamon) which freeze beautifully, thereby insuring that I can have a hot donut, every day of the week.

  1. I don't get all worked up over milk in my coffee but I was not impressed with the donuts there either. Mine were out of the fryer hot then immediately dipped in maple glaze and put in a bag. Therefore, they dripped glaze stuff all over and didn't have much of a chance to adhere to the donut. Worse was the greasy taste, just extremely not tasty. And worse than that was the greasy, used oil aftertaste for a long while later.

It's too bad as I don't wish ill will upon a business trying to get ahead but the operation seems like someone happened upon a free Donut Robot 2000 and thought it fun to make donuts with it. And, maybe lacking most of the other skills needed to run a food business. The place is pretty sterile and there weren't many donuts around and as reported didn't taste too good. Hope they can get it together but don't see myself going back.

I had a similar experience. In my case, they were chocolate frosted donuts, with the frosting sticking to the box, the wax paper, etc. Aside from that, the donuts themselves weren't good.

I much prefer Suzy Jo Donuts (Royersford & Bridgeport) if I'm going to be up that way.

    2. They won't be around much longer anyway, and with that kind of attitude it's a good thing. I go past that place every morning on my way to work and it's a HORRIBLE location to try to get in and out of, plus it's too tucked away out of sight out of mind. They will have to sell a ton on donuts to stay in business and from that location, it just ain't going to happen.
