My husband and I and my 11 and 6 year old will being staying at a hotel near the Museum of modern art Friday night. I wanted to know the best reasonably priced places to eat Friday and Saturday. We are not big on Italian cusine or seafood. Any recommendations? Will travel for an excellent burger.

If you'd travel for an excellent burger, then I persume you and family wouldn't mind lining up in the cold for a good, easily one of the best "fast-food" burgers. Go to Shake Shack. The frozen custards are well worth having ... even in 26F weather.

Or they can go to the Times Square/Midtown one, which isn't outside.

If your family likes Asian food then Szechuan Gourmet, Yakitori Totto and Katsuhama are within a short walking distance.

La Bonne Soup, very casual French option, good for kids.

You might enjoy La Bonne Soupe - it's not a destination spot for sure, but they have decent French bistro fare (I imagine the kids would like crepes and fondue) - it's inexpensive and close by.

Also, I wouldn't call it an excellent burger, but there's a good, cool burger at the Burger Joint "hidden" in Le Parker Meridien hotel.

I'm not the OP, but found this while looking for lunch in this area. Thanks for the recommendation for La Bonne Soupe! The soup hit the spot with our adults and 6 year old soup lover, and the frites, bread and chocolate mousse worked well for our picky 10 year old.
