Skirt Steak: new book about female chefs

Yesterday NPR interviewed the author of "Skirt Steak", which contains female chefs' comments about the profession. http://www.amazon.com/Skirt-Steak-Sta... One of my pet peeves is the misapplication of the word, so I was happy that the author mentioned that the definition of "chef" is a cook who runs a professional kitchen. I assume Julia Child did not have final approval over the name of her show, since she often pointed out that she was never a chef. "Home chef" and similar terms are as oxymoronic as "hobbyist neurosurgeon".
