Safeway in Oakland is charging $3.29 for one small can of Blackeyed Peas!

Is that price gouging for a New Years item?

It will be interesting to see what the same can costs next week?

  1. Did Hyperinflation finally hit in 2013?

    1. a google search reveals a severe drought in texas in december, reducing the (prospective) supply of black eye peas.
attribute the price jump to a "shortage". whether safeway , the grower, or the packer jacked the price is difficult to access. just like gas, when there's a shortage, the end user immediately gets the (higher) sticker price.

      1. Safeway is the wrong place for just about everything.
