Everything opening up

Why are all the posts opening up in a thread instead of the newest ones that I haven't read? This has happened in all the threads that I have opened this morning.

Just to say,since I started this thread,I no longer seem to be having any problems. I am on a Mac and a iPad and Safari and Firefox. I also am enjoying the new site. Thanks to those that worked on it.

In a similar vein: When I click on a photo within a post then click (once) to return to the thread all the posts that were closed will now be open. This has been happening for a while but I've been ignoring it. Since it's a New Year perhaps this quirk can be addressed.

I just tried this. If I used 'back' I got the list just as I'd left it. But if I used the
'« This photo's post' link, I got it all opened up. That link, in effect, reloads the thread, just as if I had done a reload or double click. In that sense it is not a true 'back' button.

I've been having the "all open," too, mostly consistently for the past 3-4 days. My profile isn't visible in the upper right. The arrow for new posts isn't showing, either. Had thought the site was undergoing maintenance or something, but it's been days now.

Haven't been opening long threads, 'cause can't tell what I've already read vs. new posts.

Ideas?

Hi pine time.

If your profile isn't visible in the upper right then you're not logged in, which is also why you can't see the arrow for updated threads and the difference in shading between read and unread threads. Do you see the Log in / Sign Up buttons in the upper right, or is it just blank for you?

What pine time describes is what I've seen when I am not logged in. But how could pine time have written this post if he/she wasn't logged in? But on the other hand, if the 'reply arrow' wasn't showing, how did he reply to my post?

I don't log out, so generally haven't needed to log in, either. Paulj, it wasn't the "reply arrow" that didn't show, but the "new post" black arrow on the topics pages.

Can you try logging out and back in again? Does the log out link appear in the upper right hand corner?

I just want to reiterate, in case this whole thing gets dismissed, that I have most definitely been logged in when this has happened to me.

MCF, if memory serves you and several other users were also experiencing this problem long before the December redesign. Has the bug gotten worse in the past month, or has it been about the same?

I wasn't having the problem at all since then, it just resurfaced in recent days.

In addition, I keep getting logged out, once daily it seems. I just had to log back in a minute ago.

If I hibernate or suspend the computer, I stay logged in. But if I reboot, I often have to log back in. I don't do that often enough to notice whether it happens all the time or not.

It just seems to happen randomly to me, but it's never been daily the way it is in approx the past week or so. No reboots prior, though.

Those of your experiencing this problem, I just want to check, are you single clicking to open up a discussion or double clicking?

Single. I'd assumed I'd carelessly clicked twice, so very consciously went about single clicking several other threads; they all opened fully expanded.

It sounds like you might be logged-out. Make sure you're logged in to the site, and then let us know if this behavior continues.

I'm logged in, and this behavior is intermittent.

Me, too, and it's happening on every single thread right now. Started happening intermittently earlier today. I am most definitely logged in.

I'm always logged in,comes up automatically. It seems to be better now although every once in a while it does happen.
