Washington DC: Cosi defeated by food trucks

So the Cosi at 13th and K NW has closed. A worker attributed the closing to the array of food trucks that regularly park across the intersection at Franklin Sq. It's usually a lineup of 8-10 trucks.

Has anyone heard of this happening anywhere else?

I've never heard a store closing blamed on food trucks. The reason shops close in and around K Street is because the rents are ridiculous and the area's oversaturated with chains to begin with. You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a coffee shop.

That store might have been doing poorly to begin with. There is another Cosi two blocks west at 15th and K, and I'm sure others within walking distance as well.

So it's possible that the revenue lost to the food trucks might have been sufficient for management to just not renew the lease for that space.

Not that I'm shedding any tears for Cosi. Their food is ok, but it's not cheap.
