I am planning a lunch at Kellari Taverna on a Sunday afternoon before the theater unless anyone feels I have not made a good choice.
The menu seems appealing and the place itself looks charming.
I went a couple weeks ago and it was terrible. I live in Astoria so my expectations weren't super high but the food was bland and the service was slow. The Lambs Club has a great brunch/lunch menu.
Went here during Sandy. Good food and OK service. THe price point is a bit high but order properly and you will enjoy
I went for Sunday brunch/lunch a few weeks ago and it was very good -- food, service, and surroundings. Have been for dinner a number of times, I'm a fan. I love Astoria but this is more upscale and still authentically Greek.
Well, I bit the bullet and went yesterday to find out for myself.
I really wanted to like this venue.
The place has a charming aura about it and much more appealing atmosphere than Molyvos, but there it ends.
Underwhelming is the word that comes to mind.
An avgolemono soup should have a comfort food flavor about it rather than a thin broth.
The Garides, a sauted shrimp dish, was mediocre at best.
A jazz trio was playing (?) Sunday afternoon and competing with conversation to the point that one literally had to shout at the top of their lungs to be heard . Not a good idea!
