Pasadena/Glendale, need recs -- sushi then wine/cheese

TODAY (Friday 12/28/12) Going to meet a friend halfway in the Pasadena or Glendale area. We'd like to have decent SUSHI as a late lunch, and then we may do some window shopping or see a movie and then want to go to a place with good wine/cheese (charcuterie would be a bonus) for a leisurely evening meal. Farm-to-table/organic for the wine/cheese meal would be an extra bonus.

An area that has both sushi and the wine/cheese within close distance to one another would be terrific. I think that means that we might want to be in Old Town? (I'm only vaguely familiar with Pasadena, I'm a West LA girl)

We both like 55 Degrees in Atwater Village/Glendale, if that helps. (And I like FIG in Santa Monica, to give you an idea, but today it MUST be in Pasadena as she lives far Inland.)

We have a lot of catching up to do so for the wine/cheese place I'm hoping for a place where we can linger a while...

Prefer to avoid sports bars and places that have low quality bar food.

Sushi Ichi or more expensive Sushi Kimagure...neither are open very late.

Vertical Wine Bar - for wine and fixins

A little late to your reply:

Sushi Ichi in Pasadena has a very nice sushi bar. I don't know about wine and cheese, though.

Noir Food and Wine on Mentor (just E of Lake) has excellent wine and offers a cheese plate. I'll agree with the recommendation of Vertical too.

I'm too late to offer help w/the sushi, but I'll chime in as well in support of both Vertical and Noir.

In addition, just east of Old Town, there's an interesting-sounding place I've wanted to try but have not yet had the opportunity. Menu sounds interesting, and they have cheese & charcuterie. It's called Vol. 94.
