    Just click on his name on any thread he has participated on...like mine in the upper left of this post.

      I'm sorry, but all I see are his discussions, photos, recipes, etc, but NOT his email address, which he told me to get from his profile. Where is his email address?

      1. re: Joebob

        right under his Avatar and Real Name on the right.

    2. You now have to scroll all the way down *below* the listed threads instead of seeing them alongside the list. Another "improvement."

        Thanks to you too, Jay. I wondered where the avatar was. Then I clicked on your name and found 57 pages of your list. Am I supposed to go to the end of all of those pages to get more info. about you? Improvement? Heck no! Site operators, please put the link to more info. about individuals up at the top of their profile. PLEASE!

        1. re: Joebob

          Can't you click on the last page? Maybe not with 57. I am set to view 100 posts per page, so Jay only as 15 pages. But there isn't anything on the oldest page than isn't on the current.

        2. re: Jay F

          Your avatar and info is on the side bar, just as it has always been. At least that this case when I look at it.

          1. re: paulj

            Interesting. When I click on my name or yours, paulj, I see a list of 25 threads before I see either of our avatars--mine, a parmigiano-reggiano icon, yours, what looks like a Yorkshire Terrier.

            Below your doggie avatar, I see your profile, then your People Reading Me list.

            Absolutely nothing is to the right, the way it used to be. I am looking at chowhound on a desktop computer with a 19" screen, FWIW.

            The same things happen when I click on "roxlet" or Ttoommyy".

            1. re: Jay F

              I just clicked paulj above and Jay F above, and both profiles appear to the right of their first recent discussions page, as usual. Basic HP laptop.

                I wonder if TPTB might like to weigh in.

                  The Engineering Team is out of the office until next week, so this will have to wait until they are back.

              2. re: Jay F

                In the web page source there is a section with the 'sidebar' id, and in the css style sheet, a specficiation that the SIDEBAR is supposed to be:
                width:300px;
                float:left;
                position:relative;

                My guess is that your browser isn't not paying attention to that style sheet. If you want to ask engineering more about this, specify your browser and version if possible. It sounds like a browser compatibility issue.

                1. re: paulj

                  Paul, you are right. When I look at my profile page on IE, the stuff that used to be in the right column is still in the right column. It's when I use FF that it's at the bottom.

                  I don't really know what any of that 300px stuff is about, but if TPTB would like to use the information to make the profile pages look the same for those of us who use Firefox, it would be much appreciated.

            2. re: Jay F

              If you make the text/font larger, then the profile appears on the right of the page, rather than at the bottom

              Press the Control key down and drag the mouse wheel to make larger or smaller.

              1. re: fourunder

                Hah. Right you are. Thanks. I wonder why that happens. You'd think the column on the right would be more inclined to move below when the type gets bigger, not smaller.

                Anyway, again, thank you.

                EDIT: I tried reading the embiggened profile page, but I prefer this size type, which is smaller. Keeping my profile info *alongside* my profile threads returns me to my original issue with the "improvements," i.e., I have to keep changing typefaces.

                This happens on no other website.

                1. re: fourunder

                  You are right. Changing the zoom on Chrome to 90% moves the 'sidebar'. Zoom doesn't just change the font size; it affects the layout, and in this case, in unpredictable ways.

                  http://stackoverflow.com/questions/10...
                  is an example of a programmer trying to figure out what is happening to the layout when he zooms out.

                  Check your browsers settings to see if you can change font size instead of the zoom.

                  1. re: paulj

                    Chrome and Explorer 8 have this problem. Opera does not, which surprises me a bit since it has problems laying out a Google page on a netbook.

                    There might some conflicting specifications for the over all page width, the sidebar placement, and sidebar itself - something that works ok at 100%, but gets messed up with scaled down. The browser thinks it can't fit the sidebar on the side, so it moves it to the bottom.

                    1. re: paulj

                      Thank you to everyone who's provided info/insight on the zoom issue; we're looking into it. Happy new year!
