Chinatown: Good chicken recommendations...

Hi guys! We're going to be in Chinatown in a few days and were thinking to eat dinner there. I'm hoping you have a good recommendation for a restaurant with good chicken or vegetarian recipes. I am deathly allergic to mammal meats and no shellfish either. Any recommendations or ideas would be very much appreciated. We're hoping for something interesting... not the run-of-the-mill Americanized Chinese food. Thanks!

If those are your parameters, I would run, not walk, far far away from any Chinese restaurant in Chinatown.

Just about all the Chinese restaurants will have "mammal meats" and use one type of shellfish or another.

And for those restaurants that will acknowledge you allergy, I wouldn't trust any to actually accommodate it, much less respect it.

I'm going to agree with you. Last summer we met a CH-friend in SF for dim sum. Had a GREAT eggplant dish. Well, part of the reason it was so good is that it had shrimp paste in it. I understand that Chinese restaurants frequently use unidentified shrimp in one form or another.
