Vic's Bagel Bar????

Anyone know what happened? My wife loved that place.

Since she (now he, apparently) was my RA in college, I did a quick Facebook check for you. On Vic's FB page it says in November 'left job as Owner, Vic's Bagel Bar' and 'started job at Myriad Supply Company, Account Executive'. So doesn't sound good...

I did a little surfing and found one post that blames the health dept but from the notice on the door it looks like they were evicted.
I am surprised since they were always so busy. Then again that was in the AM. Never went there in the afternoon or evening.

With Daniels across the street it was a poor idea to open in that location

Daniels makes a great bagel but Vic's was more generous with the seeds, garlic, onion etc.. My lovely wife liked mixing and matching the cream cheese fixins.
Patiently waiting for Zuckers to open and see if they are up to snuff.

Zucker's is a downtown bagel shop that is opening a new location on Lex and 41 St.
It's across from Bagel Express which seems like an odd choice. Bagel express is decent but not on par with Daniels or Ess-A-Bagel.
So many bagels, so little time!!

Zucker's is on Chambers Street. It is a small place and never that busy. The bagels and bialy's are good. The smoked fish is good if you pick the right one. It is pretty much the only place in Tribeca to get a decent lox, bagel and cream cheese or some pickled herring.

Zuckers opened yesterday and we got some excellent bagels. A bit smaller than Ess-A-Bagel but the right consistency of crisp crust and chewy center. The do boil their bagels. Is there any other way to make a great bagel? The staff is having growing pains but I am sure they will sort it all out in a few weeks.

I loved the gluten free bagels here... they were like real bagels. Does anyone know if they are opening a new bagel store or if these bagels can be found somewhere else?
