Grand Chinese Cuisine Christmas Menu help

justxpete Dec 24, 2012 07:59 AM

So, circumstances dictate that I have to order and bring chinese food to my family for Christmas, due to an injury a family member sustained, which means we won't be having dinner at our previously intended location. So we're moving it somewhere else and I volunteered to bring the chinese food (I'm really going to miss my turkey!).

So, can anyone with familiarity to GC recommend some dishes/a menu?

The only stipulation I have is that it must include chicken balls (sigh - but they do have them), and no shell-fish (due to allergy).

It's for 8-9 people.

Hi Pete: I don't have any first hand experience with Grand or much with take out Chinese in general. However I will comment that high end Chinese food is unlikely to translate well in take-out containers. I would be inclined to suggest looking at a take-out menu from a place like the Mandarin as they are geared for take-out business. We know how CH'ers love the Mandarin! That said, the "Chinatown Special" on Grand's website might be a good starting point. http://www.grandchinesecuisine.com/

Thanks Tlong. Are there any places you can recommend that might be more suitable?

        Found this timely article: http://www.thegridto.com/life/food-dr...
E-Pan is mentioned which is one of my preferred Chinese restaurants downtown. Good luck and Merry Christmas! PS. I was serious about the Mandarin.

I saw that too, but wasn't overly familiar with any of the restaurants listed.

          Thanks for the reco!

Merry Christmas to you as well. :)

(and re: Mandarin - couldn't bring myself to do it. hehe)
