Which restaurant would be best for lunch or dinner?

You really can't go wrong with either. I will say I felt a bit more comfy sitting at the bar in Neptune than IC, but its a minor ambiance thing. i think it depends on more what do you want to do after dinner - the area around Neptune is a bit more fun to stroll around in..

Can't see you being disappointed either way. Maybe check the menus and go to the one that has the most attractive looking item to you...

I had a Nantucket Bay Scallop Crudo at lunchtime a couple weeks back that was amazing at Neptune. I certainly will recommend that dish.

Neptune for lunch since Island Creek isn't open for lunch and Island Creek for dinner.

Actually they are both excellent but different. Neptune is tiny and all about the food and wine, no reservations, and fabulous food.

Island Creek is a big room with reservations, great service, good wine list, great bartenders, high cocktail standards and great food.
