Sad News About FoodFuser

Some of us have learned about the passing of Food Fuser, a frequent poster here at Chowhound. His avatar was the Pillsbury Doughboy. He was known in the world as Dawson Sather. We no longer will have the benefit of his unique view of our world and his witty poems celebrating food, family, and fun.

We hope he's having one heck of a celebration with Sam and Moh.

                                One of our recent favorites:

                                Weather becalmed

                                Deck beckons to coffee

                                Birds sing morning.

                                Eyes to the onions

                                still bent from the weather

                                not yet walked out there

                                Most bent of stems

will be chopped for my oaties

                                savory goodness

                                Oaties and onions

                                Makes for savory meals

                                And good breakfast.

                                1. So sad. He was too young

                                      1. Fuser and his poetry will be missed.

He was the first person to follow me when I joined CH -- his icon will stay on my page as long as his account continues.

                                        1. Very sad to receive this news. Farewell to a fellow Chowhound. RIP, FoodFuser.

                                                    1. Speaking on behalf of Scargod (who had communicated with Dawson on occasion), Dawson will be another Chowhound friend he never met but had great admiration for.
It is sad. Sad to know of a person dying who was bright, good and kind and contributed so much to this world being a better and more joyful place.

                                                      1. Sad to hear and he will be sorely missed.....

                                                        1. So deeply saddened by this news.

                                                            1. So sorry to read this – will miss his witty, sweet poetry. May he rest in peace.

                                                              1. Oh! I'm so sorry. Rest in peace, our resident poet.

I wonder if his son has any idea how prolific FoodFuser was on these pages....or how much he's missed.

                                                                                1. re: sunshine842
