Waiting times for Le Comptoir Pierre Sang on a Sat night

We are thinking of going to either Le Comptoir (went a couple of years ago and loved) or Pierre Sang (looks amazing) on Saturday, December 30th. Suggestions for each on how early we need to arrive to avoid an extremely long wait? Thanks.

  1. Saturday night, swarms of suburbanites, lots of Thalys and Eurostar weekenders, and many other restaurants closed for the holidays... just impossible to predict what waiting times would be. For Pierre Sang, I'd show up at opening time (7pm). I wouldn't even attempt Le Comptoir du Relais or any restaurant without rezzies in this part of the 6th simply because St Germain des Prés bursts at the seams at weekends.

The usual advice is to go early or go late.....maybe 6:30 or 7:00 or after 9:30. Le Comptoir now has the wine bar next door so not a barbaric wait for a table.

    2. Thanks Phil and Parnassian, this is helpful I will indeed avoid the 6th. I've tried many, many other places already and either they were closed or I could not get a reservation. Still trying a few more, but planning to keep Pierre Sang in mind as my 'back up".

You might have figured it out already, but Saturday is the 29th, not the 30th. If you're phoning around and mentioning the date only, this might have a bearing on availability.

Boredough: thanks! I did realize that after I contacted a couple of places.

There was no wait this past Saturday night. I am pretty sure they will be closed until January 8 or something like that. Saturday night was their last seating of the year.

Thanks Busk. I thought I had checked on if they would be open. But no worries, I just made a reservation at Terroir Parisien that night.
