Bakery - Alexandria - Arlington - DC area - Italian or French

Visiting over the holidays and need to bring a birthday cake for a celebration. Need suggestions on an exceptional bakery or a restaurant where I could buy one. Somehting with a little chocolate, maybe hazel nut, puff pastry layers, cream...etc..

Best Buns or even Buzz has a great cake! Also, Society Fare may do a whole cake too.

Try the Paul French Bakery. They would definitely have something like this. There are several locations in DC but I see they have one in Tysons Corner now, or soon will.

And btw their beignets are fabulous (off topic I know, but had to say......)

Agreed. And it isn't chocolate but their Passion Fruit cake is to die for. It always gets raves when I serve it. Just note that in general the service / staff is a little quirky.
