Peter Luger Questions

Couple of questions: I am considering making the trek here for the burger, is it really worth it? Would they have a hissy fit if my sister and I sat at the bar and split a burger and side of bacon? I don't want to fill up at PL, I've got a million other places on my itinerary, so if they're going to have issues with this, I want to nix it from my list. Any advice appreciated!

If you're coming to Williamsburg anyway, I totally think it's worth it to stop and split a burger and some bacon at PL. Both burger and bacon are v v good, and PL has an "old school" vibe that you don't find at many places in NYC.

Is it worth a special trip from Manhattan? Probably not. But if it's a nice day, walking across the Williamsburg bridge, going to PL, walking off the burger around Williamsburg (both the Hasidic and Hipster sections) and then hopping the L or J train back to manhattan would be a vacation day wellspent.

Do they let you eat at the bar now? Or is it just a lunch thing.

I don't think they would care but PL is not the place for burgers. Porterhouse, creamed spinach and cottage fries .

Really? Not a place for burgers? They make one of the best burgers, anywhere. With the side of fries, creamed spinach and a cold draft it is one of the all time best burger meals. You live on the North Shore, check out the Great Neck branch on a quiet afternoon for lunch.

I agree. I live across the street from Peter Lugars and I would eat their hamburgers any time. You can get them only at lunch. Their lunch specials are pretty good too.

I go to the Peter Lugars in Great Neck. Maybe they cook hamburgers better there.

You won't have problems with splitting your meal at the bar, done it several times in the Brooklyn location.

But the more important question is it worth it to make the trek just for the burger? I'd vote no. It is only a burger, a pretty good one, but c'mon ...

Yeah, I had a feeling it probably would not be worth it, even if I was planning on being in the area. I've plenty of other places on my hit list, onwards and upwards. Thanks for the quick advice though everyone(see you on the LA board, ipsedixit!).
