Taiwanese salty/savory treat?

violin Dec 18, 2012 09:34 PM

I am in the US and my brother and Taiwanese sister in law are coming to visit for Christmas. My s-i-l has lived in the US for many years, but food preferences are still reminiscent of her childhood. I will be filling the Christmas stockings this year and we will have one for her. My brothers usually get lots of their favorite chocolates and such, but she doesn't care for these sweet treats - she prefers salty/savory.

What are some savory/salty treats she might like, or other food ideas to put in her Christmas stocking?

Jerky. Dried meat snacks. There's not a lot of Mexican food out in Taiwan and what there is is not good. Chips and other fried snack foods. Possibly chicharrones?
