Final days of Bar Bambino [San Francisco]

Too bad. I thought it was a pretty good place, overall.

I think he's probably right -- the market is saturated, but also for Italian restaurants in general. I'd marveled at the recent glut of them in San Francisco, but I guess the city couldn't support all of them after all. I think that same restaurant might do fine as a sort of neighborhood favorite if it were somewhere like Bernal Heights or Cole Valley.

In any event, it was a good place and the city will be a lesser place without it. I hope that gang come back soon.

  1. A little sad about this one. Went many times a few years ago. Had a brilliant cheese guy who told stories about the cheeses and a very strong wine program. Place was expensive and I imagine the design/taste in the place cost a pretty penny. Also had some nice and knowledgeable servers.
