Hawaii Food Itinerary: REVIEWED

Sorry for posting this so late. I came back from my hawaiian vacation about 2 weeks ago, and would like to thank all of you for your suggestions.

Day 1: Honolulu

Lunch at Pineapple Room- Nothing much to say other than it was pretty good, but not as good as previous visits. I had the Kalua Pork BLT, and felt it was a bit "heavy".

Dinner at Orchids: This was my favorite restaurant of the bunch even when we were there during two wedding dinners. I had the orchids salad which was perfect, light, airy, and crisp. My entrée was the "onaga" or red snapper, which was cooked to perfection with an asian broth excellently complementing the fish. Excellent service and excellent food.

Day 2:

Lunch at Pool: N/A

Dinner at Roys Waikiki: Excellent location as it was right across from hotel. We had thanksgiving dinner here and it was perfect. I started off with the red veal potstickers, definitely a must order and was my favorite part of the meal. My main course was seared ahi, which didn't have much to it, and was relatively average but still good. The service was excellent.

Day 3: Wailea

Lunch at Pool: N/A

Dinner at Ferraro's: My 2nd favorite restaurant of the trip, I had the seafood pasta, everything was cooked to perfection and the pasta was divine. We had an excellent seat, and there was a reasons we went back again.

Day 4:

Lunch at The Pool: N/A

Dinner at DUO: We had an excellent meal hear that rivaled Ferraro's, with excellent service. I shared the 24 oz bone-in rib-eye with a side of truffle mac n' cheese. The steak was split in half and was very tender and juicy. excellently cooked. The mac n' cheese was excellent as well. Overall a wonderful meal

Day 5:

Lunch at The Pool: N/A

Dinner at The Lobby Lounge: Excellent entertainment but prices are way too much for what you get, with mediocre food. $24 for one sushi roll in a lounge!

Day 6:

Lunch at The Pool: N/A

Dinner at Ferraro's: Went back for another great experience.

Day 7:

Lunch at The Pool: N/A

Dinner at Tommy Bahamas: Horrible experience with mediocre food and overpriced. Had some white fish with inedible rice. Don't come here!

Day 8:

Lunch at the Pool: N/A

Dinner at Alan Wong's Amasia: Way underrated and we had an excellent view of the koi pond an sunset for our final dinner in Wailea. All of the sushi was fresh and the potstickers were excellent as was the fried rice. A great end to our trip

Thanks again for your suggestion with some of the restaurants

  1. Glad to hear about Amasia. Unfortunately, we missed heading to Maui, a few weeks back, as we were supposed to have meetings back in San Francisco (cancelled), so did a short, sweet trip. Hope to rectify that next time around.

    Thank you for the report.

I have read some really UP, but also DOWN reviews of Tommy Bahama (various locations), but have never dined there. Not sure that I will now.
