In Philadelphia for two nights

From New Orleans, wanting lovely food that will be different from NOLA's fabulous chow! Suggestions? Staying near Society Hill.

  1. 1. Zahav
    2. Vedge

    'nuff said.

    1. Can't argue with either of those. Some other ideas would be Barbuzzo, Koo Zee Doo (Portugese), Han Dynasty, Amis

Get the Mesibah at Zahav (must order ahead). Also Amada is close by. And do visit Reading Terminal Market for lunch.

I agree the lamb as part of theMesibah at Zahav is good, though at the recent Chanukah Mesibah I had several very disappointing dishes, (soup, fried smelt).

I would suggest Amada as well, and perhaps one of the upscale pizza places (Zavino,Barbuzzo, Osteria, Nomad etc) depending on what your budget is. Our gastropub scene might be another thing to consider, Alla Spina, Standard Tap, Monks or Eulogy might be places to consider for this style of restaurant, and good beer selections.

I am going to be a contrarian with regards to Vedge. I believe Vedge does great food... during spring summer early fall. I believe the choices/meals fall flat in the winter given the produce they have to work with. Just my own opinion, but I think there is a much higher chance of being underwhelmed in the winter.

      2. When? Preference for casual or upscale spots, etc?
