Great pecan pie?

Ediblethoughts Dec 15, 2012 07:05 AM

I like Phipps but I'm looking for something more gooey. Flaky Tart used to do a great one but they went nut free. (Chocolate pecan is a bonus!)

Is Dufflet's good? I've had little tarts but not the pie.

I know that if you call ahead, the chef/owner of Buster Rhinos Southern BBQ (http://www.busterrhinos.com/main/inde...) will make you a chocolate pecan pie that is to die for

I'm intrigued--but do I have to go to Whitby to get it?

Flaky Tart is nut free now?! Wow.

Southern Accent makes a really good pecan pie.

I think I've tried them way back but I'm assuming they don't really sell whole pies?

I was very disappointed when FT when nut-free... sigh.

Yeah no idea about whole pies. Prolly not?

Try Miss Cora's Kitchen in Kensington Market. They make beautiful comfort baked goods.

          Good luck : )

I just looked at their site. I don't see any pies on their menu...?

              But perhaps not? Maybe call?

              Their chocochip cookies are heaven.

Always good to know! I'm not sure I'd go there just for that (since a bit out of the way), but when I'm next going to be there, I'll reserve!

Southern Accent, whose pie I remember fondly, have a catering menu that includes pecan tarts (minimum order 24). So maybe they will sell you the tarts, or even a whole pie. Worth a phone call no?

I didn't know they had a catering menu. Yes, worth a call.

(I'm amazed at how few pecan pies are being made out there...)

Great idea! I should have thought of them. I'll order and pick some time after the holidays have worn off.

i enjoy the pecan pie (and pecan squares) at yummy stuff on queen west. buttery crust and very fresh pecans....

they don't always bake the pies (though they always have the squares) so call ahead to ensure availability-luckily (or maybe the temptation isn't always so lucky) i walk by it every day coming home from work...i look in-pie? score! or i look in and ? no pie-sad face-keep walking

Love YS for cupcakes; I've never tried . But they are such a long drive... I will need to plan quite a bit to make this work...
