Nice dinner for 1 (maybe at the bar) between Lake Merritt and Albany?

I have some time to kill en route on Saturday nights and am just looking for somewhere to get a nice light delicious dinner and a good drink for myself. In my neighborhood I like Grand Tavern and Sidebar, have been to Wood Tavern recently so that's out and I know even the bar could be tough on Saturday... anywhere in the general San Pablo Ave. area like these places is a bonus but really I just want to treat myself to something slightly classy between those two points and generally avoid downtown Berkeley. Also Piedmont Ave. is a no-go as I've been all over there lately...

This is not an urgent plea for help, but I am recently registered here and really like reading the "suggestion" threads... hope that by posting I can maybe discover something new!

What's wrong with downtown Berkeley? Revival, Comal, Corso, and Cesar are good for bar dining.

You can make a reservation for one at the bar at some places.

Just reading the Plum thread now, I think that is what I will do. Thanks, Robert--your posts are one of the best parts of this site!

Wound up going to downtown Berkeley after all to combine errands and had a couple of martinis (the first one was so good I had another), nice little salad and some charcuterie as a light meal at Revival. It was great and total random--just happened to be near where I needed to go anyway.

Was a very social place with a nice bartender (I don't remember his name) and a couple of other chatty people drinking it up. Pretty perfect.
