Asheville Updates Winter 2012/13
Lots of updates to share...
Bourbon bar serving charcuterie plates coming to the spot that was formerly Blue Water Seafood on Charlotte Street. We talked to Josh, owner of The Chop Shop (who is opening the new place) and he said it would probably be open by March. He likened it to the bar at Husk. Love this!
Michael Moore of Blind Pig and the Admiral, Jason Caughman of Pisgah Brewing and Adam Bannasch of Zambra will open a restaurant called Seven Sows Bourbon and Larder in February 2013 in former Mamacita's Baja Kitchen. Southern, local, bourbon.
Livi’s Pantry, a 2,200-square-foot natural foods market is opening early next year in Reynolds Village in Woodfin. In the former Baja Cafe across the street there is supposedly a New Orleans-style restaurant under construction.
Mr. Frogs is closing to make room for housing and office space. Owner is looking for a new location...maybe not exactly the same concept to the soul-creole cuisine but similar.
I am excited to check out Imperial Life Bar next week with my friend. Upstairs from Table...this cocktail bar looks swanky. I will report back!
Zia Taqueria (out of Charleston) opening soon in West Asheville. I hope this one is good - I love Mexican, Tex-Mex and New Mexican cuisine and am not always thrilled with our current options in town.
Bull and Beggar next to Wedge and Buxton Hill BBQ from the guys behind the Admiral also sounds great.
And finally, I'm wanting to check out the new "bustaurant" in The Lot, Sabor. The Latin American menu looks interesting.
Lots to be excited about!
Have you tried Zia Taqueria yet? A friend whose opinion I trust loves it (and he agrees Tex-Mex/New Mex options around here are not inspiring). The pics look good. Food looks great as does the space. Just looking for reliable Hound feedback.
Here is their FB page... https://www.facebook.com/ZiaTaqueriaA...
Thanks! They are fun to post.
Imperial Ice Bar had a very unusual (and delicious) cocktail list. We sampled several and enjoyed them all. It's expensive and I think MG Road has an edge in ambiance. Still, for craft cocktails, it's a very welcome addition to Asheville. Excellent service too.
