Gluten Free in Charlotte

I'm looking for some good options. I know Fern has a number of items, and Bad Daddy's has gluten-free rolls (but, sadly, their black bean patty is NOT gluten-free-bummer for GF vegetarians), but I'd like to know what else is out there.

  1. There's several gluten-free pizza places around town now. Fuel Pizza, Pure Pizza (they also have a diabetic-friendly pizza crust that is delicious), Mellow Mushroom and Brixx. I think Hawthorne's does too.

I know Vivace also has a gluten-free menu.

Yeah, I forgot to mention the pizza places. Vivace's menu looks decent but I was hoping for something vegetarian-friendly as well.

It's tough to find, I know.

It seems like more people than ever are open to eating vegetarian meals. Farmers markets are all the rage and people are eating things like brussels sprouts and beets more than ever. It is strange that the QC doesn't have more veggie-friendly restaurants. It's kind of sad.

One of the restaurants that I think is veggie-friendly is Roosters. They always have several vegetables to choose from and I often times will get a plate of 3-4 different vegetables as my entree. To a lesser extent, 131 Main has good vegetables too. I love their braised cabbage w/ goat cheese and also their quinoa salad. Oooh, and I just remembered that Ilios Noche has some good veggie sides too. That and their seared scallops over smashed chickpeas w/ olive oil and capers is too die for. Ok, now I'm hungry. :)

Has 131 Main reopened somewhere new? I went to the Brixx on East Blvd about two weeks ago; it still looked closed then.

They have had a location down in Blakeney. It's been open for several years. We were just there this evening. I had the crab cake salad. They really do have delicious crab cakes. Yummm...

I had no idea they had a location down there, but I hardly ever venture down to that part of town.

In other news, the Crepe Cellar just posted on their Facebook page that their savory crepes are now gluten-free.

The 131 Main on East Boulevard is scheduled to reopen on Wednesday, December 19th.
