This is my SD report from my trip during Thansgiving.

First, thanks to all for their feedback !!

I stayed at the Hilton Gaslamp four nights. Highly recommended and very conveniently located.

First night went to Fleming's accros the street from the hotel. Maybe not the top steakhouse but after a long trip with my son and next to the hotel a good choice. Dinner was excellent and the service top. The NY Strip was excellent and the wine selection by the glass good. Had the Frank Family Cab. Very good !!
Second night went to Ocenaire for oyster and a pre-dinner drink. To my surprise they had happy hours for oysters at $1.00 a piece. Unbeatable so I had 18 from different variaties all from the West Coast. I manage to convince my 8 year to try them (second attempt - first was when he was 6 and did not worked out) and he had two. I order the jumbo shrimo cocktail. The shrimp were awesome but at $17.50 a little bit stiff. Anyway, a good visit. Try to hit their happy hour and you will be ok. Then for dinner went to little Italy to Buon Apetito. Big mistake. The worse meal of the trip. The place was packed and with a very nice setting. They were very accomodating to our needs and service was friendly. However, both pasta dishes were bland and tasteless. The calamari ok. Third day had a late lunch at Valentine's Taco Shop close from the hotel and were very good. A very informal place but the mini-tacos of carne asada and the sauce very good. Recommended. For dinner stayed at the hotel. Last day went to La Jolla and had lunch at George's Ocean Terrace. A fun place to go with a nice view. Wait time was +1 hr but the bar made it shorter. Pricey but it is understandable. We share their shrimp coscktail baja style or something like that and were great. We then had the fish and shrimp tacos and were ok but nothin to write about. If in La Jolla go for the atmosphre. Lst dinner went to Bice. Very friendly service. Dinner was good and we had a good time taking to the manager about Barolos and Barbarescos (he is from Piedmont, Italy). Recommeded.

Overall, we had a great time in SD and the area/hotel were spot on. Gaslamp is a fun place to go but be selective since is loaded with potential tourist trap.

Regards,

V

Ah, I used to live on Valentine's pollo asada plates in the mid 90's. I believe they were $3.99 then!
