Chestnuts on fire

Has anyone seen pre-peeled chestnuts (frozen or fresh, not canned) for sale in Portland? No luck at New Seasons Concordia and Whole Foods Fremont so far.

They were roasting chestnuts at Kruger's on Hawthorne, yesterday

I don't know about PDX, but you can find them in Asian markets. They are already peeled and vacuum sealed. I eat these occasionally as a snack. They just in the aisles.

The answer turned out to be Trader Joe's for anyone else who is interested! Peeled and steamed for about $4. Whew.

try calling trader joe's. they usually have them in season. good luck.

I'd check the asian markets for frozen (and possibly fresh too) like FuBonn, Uwajimaya, etc.
