How do you make your Mulled Wine?

  1. Blandy Madeira warmed with cloves, nutmeg, and a cinnamon stick. I wish I could enjoy it again with my German ladyfriend who first made it for me, but she dumped me for a french dude and is living in Paris.

She also was free, but very expensive.

I wouldn't use Madeira for this as 1) Your'e adulterating a very nice wine - would you add spices to Latour?; 2) It's too expensive for this purpose.;3) mulled wine is generally agreed to be spiced red wine.

You're better off. Anyone who would do this to Madeira deserves 'some French dude'.

      3. Cheap jug burgundy diluted by half with water, Spicy Peak mulling spices. Nicely replicates what I had at a nice hotel on the Oregon Coast which will remain nameless since it might incriminate them.

        1. I generally take a bottle of inexpensive but tasty red (Barefoot, for example), add simple syrup until I like the sweetness, then add real cinnamon, real cinnamon stick, whole cloves, nutmeg, citrus peel and a pinch of allspice to taste.
