Small, intimate restaurant recommendations downtown

I'm looking for a relatively small, intimate restaurant for my boyfriend's birthday. We've tried Bohemian Restaurant and Graffiti in the past and really loved them. I'd love to do Takashi, but they don't take reservations for parties of two. I'm hoping to find something that would cost around $30-50 per person before drinks. Any recommendations? Thanks!

I second Rouge et Blanc. I also recommend Greenwich Grill.

I'll third Rouge et Blanc, but beware that the size of dishes varies tremendously (and is not perfectly correlated with price), so for that amount, you can wind up hungry or stuffed depending on what you order.

        The brussels sprouts are amazing.

Just made reservations at Greenwich Grill - thanks for the recommendation! I would have preferred Rouge et Blanc, but they're not open on Mondays.

For another year you might tuck away Duane Park as a possibility.

Enjoy Greenwich Grill. The Thai Crab pasta is a good dish, the grilled fish is always excellent. They used to have great foie gras, but took it off the menu. Maybe they have it, if they do, I recommend ordering it. Please report back.

          1. Try Pata Negra. It's a wonderful tapas place. It's quite small and the menu isn't very extensive but they've got lots of wines and the tapas were great. The waiter was also really great.
